Our Mission
SCREEN stands for Skin Cancer Recognition, Education and Engagement to Network. Operation Sun SCREEN's mission is to reduce the burden of skin cancer through early detection, education, and service, with a special emphasis on military pilots, aircrew, and other high-risk veteran populations.
Our Story
Operation Sun SCREEN was founded by dermatologists committed to preventive medicine and military health. Our founders all served in the military as U.S. Naval or U.S. Air Force Flight Surgeons prior to completing training in Dermatology. This time working closely with the aviation community allowed us to recognize the elevated skin cancer risk faced by aviators and service members.
While Operation Sun SCREEN is an independent nonprofit organization, it is closely aligned with the mission and values of the Association of Military Dermatologists (AMD) and draws on the expertise and service ethos of military-connected clinicians.
